1. Compare and Measure

Episode #1:  This episode is about measuring.

 

Children learn mathematics through comparing,  describing and measuring the objects they handle and observe during everyday activities.  Through experience and play they compare and learn to work out which objects are longer, shorter, heavier, lighter, or hold more or less.

​

Families help children to learn when they encourage children to compare, notice and describe, in everyday language, which is longer, shorter, heavier, lighter, or holds more, or holds less.

Numeracy@home is a Linkage Project between Swinburne University and Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools. Previous partnerships with Monash University, the Victorian Department of Education and Training, and Doveton College.
